There is no good excuse for being late to a job interview. In fact, you should plan to arrive 15 minutes early so you can relax and spend a few minutes in the waiting area getting a feel for the place. You might even consider taking a test drive the day before the interview so you know exactly how to get there and how long it will take. According to each culture, there is often an understanding about what is considered an acceptable degree of punctuality. Usually, a small amount of lateness is acceptable; this is commonly about ten or fifteen minutes in Western cultures, but this is not the case in such instances as doctor's appointments or school lessons. In some cultures, such as Japanese society, and settings, such as military ones, expectations may be much stricter.
Business casual dress code does not apply to job candidates. You want to stand out from the crowd, not blend in. Wear business clothing that fits you well (not too tight), cover your feet (no sandals!), and wear long sleeves (short sleeves are too casual). Depending on the type of employer, you may wish to cover up any tattoos, and keep accessories (and makeup and perfume/cologne) to a minimum. Neat, simple grooming is best. Casual wear entered business culture with the advent of the Silicon Valley, California, technology company featuring casual work clothes on the job. Additionally, some companies set aside days generally Fridays ("dress-down Friday", "casual Friday") when workers may wear casual clothes. This practice has moderated somewhat since the end of the dot com era. The clothing a company requires its worker to wear on the job varies with the occupation and profession.
Dont sit there with a goofy smile on your face, but dont let your face settle into a frown, either. Try to match the tone of the room and also project confidence in your expression. Sit up straight, lean slightly forward, keep your arms uncrossed, and maintain eye contact with everyone in the room even those who arent asking questions. The intuitive feature of body language used in teaching is the exemplification of the language, especially individual words, through the use of matching body language. For example, when teaching about the word "cry", teachers can imitate a crying person. This enables a deeper impression which is able to lead to greater understanding of the particular word.
Architecture can be a very rewarding and lucrative career. Architects can use their skills to work in a variety of fields. An architect may design homes, commercial buildings, sky scrapers, work on historical restoration projects, or use their knowledge of the subject to teach others. Though there are many different fields of architecture for one to enter, one thing remains common: most architects must have a high aptitude for math and possess adequate drawing skills.
Its no secret that students are facing increasing psychological and emotional stresses at school both academically and socially. Fortunately, meditation can help resolve some of these problems, and schools have already seen positive results by integrating just a few minutes of daily quiet time. Edutopia recently studied Visitacion Valley Middle Schools meditation program, where students sit quietly or meditate in periods designated as Quiet Time in the morning and afternoon for 15 minutes at a time. In the seven years since the programs implementation, the school has experienced dramatic changes in student behavior: suspensions are down 50 percent, truancy has declined 65 percent, and overall GPA has increased .5 percent.
While some teachers are trying it out for the first time this fall, others who used the flipped classroom method in 2013 are making changes to build on their lesson plans for the 2014-15 school year. Read this brief guide to learn why flipped learning is an increasingly popular choice, and review a few steps for teachers wanting to try it out. Studies have found that students K-12 are assigned an average of three hours of homework a day, but many parents question whether the quantity of work matches the quality of learning. Some schools are banning homework in 2014 altogether and trying to maximize learning in the classroom. (We touched on this a bit in July, as some European countries have gone without homework for years.)
